Wayne Hicks, founder of Wire Streams, Road to Rock theatre and several other businesses in Branson, Missouri is scheduled to appear before Judge Tony Williams tomorrow January 7, 2007 at 9:00 A.M. with an attorney to defend himself against a complaint filed by appointed special prosecutor Sherri Harris who accused Hicks of five felony counts of filing false Missouri State Tax Returns.
A probable cause statement was filed by Roy L. Seckington Special Agent of the Missouri Department of Revenue Criminal Investigation Bureau on January 24th 2007 for filing . The charges date back to June 30th 2006 and span five monthly periods ending October 31st 2006 where Seckington contends Hicks is in violation of Section 143.931 RSMo – failing to pay withholding tax with intent to defraud the state. Harris filed amended charges on August 23, 2007 in the Circuit Court of Taney County.
Harris filed a complaint in the Taney County Circuit Court on September 13, 2007 charging Hicks with five counts of violating Section 144.480 RSMo – Felony Failure to Pay Missouri State Sales Tax.
After Robert Brim filed a probable cause statement accusing Hicks of bouncing a check for $605.86 the Taney County Prosecutor filed charges against Hicks as well.
In passing last Monday, Wayne Hicks stated that he believes employees were using his name stamp to issue checks without his permission. Hicks is pleading innocence on all charges.
Hicks left Branson for Florida earlier this year where he was arrested and eventually posted a $10,000 cash bond on September 13, 2007..
Hicks is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
