Travel Club Bill Sponsored by Missouri Rep Nita Jane Ayres

Missouri House Bill 2345, sponsored by Nita Jane Ayres reduces liability requirements for Travel Club companies. 
Her seat in the Missouri House replaces former Rep and current Stone County Commissioner Dennis Wood who pushed stiff regulations on the industry in terms of gifting and increased the liquid assets required to conduct business in  the industry. 
While the Time-Share industry offers title and guaranteed weeks the travel club industry promises discounts and benefits for membership fees. Wood's bill increased the recision time for buyers.
During an interview posted on Missouri Netizen, Ayres shares some of the background on the new bill, Missouri senators supporting the bill and why it's important for those not in the travel club industry. 
Federal legislation has increased participation in local politics and strengthened the "behind the scenes" Republican party machine, traditionally weak in our area. Although Stone County is conservative, the unique circumstances of Wood's resignation placed party leaders in control of who was appointed to the spot in lieu of an election-at-large. Ayers will battle opponent Jeff Justus for the Missouri's 62 Congressional spot in August.
The travel company asking for the legislation gave contributions to Missouri Senator Gary Nodlers Senate campaign and in the last cycle contributed to Missouri Senator Jack Goodman's Congressional coffers.
Ayers is excited about learning the practical process of converting a legislative idea into law.

Missouri House District 62 Special Election

Dismal voter turnout is expected today as Western Taney County and Eastern Stone County. Results will be posted here as the stats trickle in.

The vacancy left by Rep. Dennis Wood will send a new representative to Jefferson City for three months before the title of being the 62nd district representatives to Missouri's House will have to be defended.

Democrats are a no show. James Rynard was promoted as Stone County Democrats sacrificial cow but moved farms before the election. Unfortunately, 62nd District Dems weren't notified leaving no Democratic challenger for the seat.

Former Rep. Dennis Wood got a payraise before being ousted by term limits and appointed to the Stone County Commission leaving an unusual amount to power to the behind-the-scenes Stone County Republican players.

The 62nd Republican Primary gave some foreshadowing to what could be a heated contest come August.

New media played a substantial role in coverage as "Rumble with the Rabbi" Dr. Eukel hosted competitors for the seat - sustained by the party membership as opposed to an election.

Republican victor Nita Jane Ayres battles L:ibertarian Patty Tweedle.  Tweedle and Ayres participated in a political discussion prior to today's election hosted by Brad Belote.

Tweedle calls herself a Reagan Republican swayed to the Libertarian party by Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.

During the debate Tweedle called for area voters to look for new tourism and industry segments that Branson could attract and called for less legislative restraints on business.

Ayres will likely be crowned for the state seat within hours.

Voter turnout will paint another story. It's expected to be at record lows. The dangerous trend seems to passing virally as Branson's City Elections are all but canceled as Presley appointees will walk into another session of Branson's Board of Alderman without challenge.

Missouri's 62nd District - Special Election Slated for Feb 2

Jeff Justus is the first to verbally acknowledge intentions to replace former Missouri Assemblyman Dennis Wood. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon 's appointment of Wood as Stone County Presiding Commissioner was confirmed yesterday in front of a crowd of over 100 onlookers in Galena.

For Wood, the 62nd seat would ultimately be vacated after Missouri's next legislative session due to term limits. As Stone County presiding commissioner, Wood's paid political career could have some longevity as term limits aren't an issue for county commissioners.

But who will throw their hat into the ring? Branson's mayor Presley could easily take the seat but with the current financial disarray of the municipality it's likely she could sit this one out.

The Democrats are void of a candidate at this time but Joe Allen, who recently moved to Branson from Forsyth, could be a strong contender. Peter T. took a stomping by Wood during last election outpaced by a democratic candidate who wasn't even living in the country during the prior election.

Incumbent Dennis wood stumped against Jeff Justus for the Missouri House of Representatives 62 District seat.
If Wood is re-elected he'll be disqualified to make another run ue to term limits. The winner of the Repoublican Primary Contest will battle Peter Tsahiridis who is uncontested in the Democratic Primaries.

Missouri Legislature - Final Hours

Missouri's 2008 legislative session moved from months of stalemate to movement in the final hours.

Local Missouri Rep. Dennis broke down in tears as he described the final hours of the Missouri House to a local television station. "It was awful, 6 people holding up the democratic process but in the end the people won" creaked wood referring to the infamous village law which was pushed into action during the special economic development session last year.

Missouri House of Representatives 94th Session Opening Address

Rod Jetton opened the Missouri House of Representatives 94th session with the slam of a gavel today at noon.

..."I think that's what has allowed us to lead this state. I am so proud that we have set an example of putting the partisan differences aside and working together to solve the key issues in a professional way – not that you agree but you did it in a professional way. We really changed this state and to me that's something we should all be proud of. And I thank you because we can't do it by ourselves. It takes all of us together to do it.

Now we have a few issues – I'll talk a bout a few things I hope we can work on in this last year. I know it's an election year and people say you can't do as much, but I will tell you the gentleman from Jackson , LeVota district, the new minority leader; I can't tell you how many times he and I have talked on the phone this Fall and Summer. Believe it or not, a Democrat and a Republican can pick up the phone and talk about how we're going to deal with an issue. Does that mean we agree? Not always, but we at least talk about what can we do to solve a problem for people in this state."
