Just after 2 a.m. this morning officers were called to the Payless Inn located at 1900 West Highway 76 in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival officers found a 32 year old male from St. Anns, Jamaica with a stab wound to his lower back. The victim told officers that he and the suspect had been in an argument over a female acquaintance and during the altercation he was stabbed. The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri for treatment of a non life-threatening injury.
The suspect, Renaldo Jones, 29 years of age from Hanover, Jamaica was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in the Branson City Jail awaiting the filing of formal charges which are expected later today.
Both the suspect and the victim are in the U.S. on work permits.
