Taney County Commission Unanimously Votes to display "In God We Trust" Motto
Springfield Attorney and author Dee Wampler has sent letters to 76 municipalities promoting the action. The City of Branson passed a similar measure last month.
Taney County officials have yet to state where they intend to place the motto and the cost of initiating the measure.
Branson More Than Just Music by Len Ziehm For Chicago Sun Times
Then Marvel Cave — and its tours 500 feet below ground — emerged as a tourist attraction.
That spawned the creation of Silver Dollar City, one of the largest theme parks in the country.
Silver Dollar City, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, in turn stimulated more tourist activity — initially country music venues. The Baldknobbers started entertaining the fishermen on the lakefront in 1959, and now second and third generations of that Mabe family are doing the same thing.
Branson Sting Operation Yields 12 Alcohol to Minor Violations - Initiative
BRANSON POLICE
DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
On Friday evening,
the Branson Police Department conducted random compliance checks of
restaurants and bars serving alcohol, to determine if bartenders and
wait staff are verifying that the purchaser is of legal age to buy alcohol.
Officers worked with the assistance of three minors to conduct spot
checks of thirty four businesses, finding that clerks in twenty four
of the businesses checked identification or accurately enforced the
Missouri age restriction of being at least 21 years old to purchase
alcohol. The minors working with officers were able to purchase
alcohol in ten of the thirty four locations. (Attached is a log
sheet showing those establishments checked and the results from each.)
Citations for
the sale of intoxicants to a minor were issued to those clerks violating
the liquor code.
Compliance checks
will continue as we work toward obtaining total compliance with liquor
laws. While not every establishment selling alcohol will be checked
each time the program is conducted, all may expect to be checked at
any given time as we continue to work toward this goal.
