Mavis Busiek - Republicans Embrace "Non Microwaveable" Ronpublicans - Video -
Mavis Busiek was crowned with the title Missouri Republican State Secretary through a vote on the Missouri Republican Convention floor Friday.
She's held a lot of positions in the party and has been a longtime supporter and party activist for Congressman Roy Blunt.
Busiek foreshadows the party strategy of embracing Ron Paul advocates in hopes they'll help energize and participate in the party.
The term "microwaveable" is a good analogy as Missouri Republican Party embraced Ronpublicans by granting "non Missouri Blue Book Certified Libertarians" delegate status.
Currently, Ron Paul is the only candidate besides John McCain still in the Republican Primary Race. Ronpublicans attempted to change the rules for greater representation during the next convention. The effort was unsuccessful. The "winner take all" Republican rules were being challenged by the group. Earlier this month Sen. Hillary Clinton boasted, "By Republican rules I'd already be the Democratic Candidate."
Still, most Ronpublicans wore a "contested delegate" badge at the convention to identify their political affections. In this way they were easily identified through color coated badges.
McMannis argued the majority of Ronpaulican delegates didn't show up to the convention due to anticipated rejection. A motion to allow alternates to fill in the gaps was denied.
Many proudly wore stickers noting their "old school conservative" leanings. State Republican Conventions have been known to linger on, however, an early motion to close the session was used shut out a potential Ronpublican Convention Floor Delegate filibuster.
Missouri Republican Attorney General Candidate Michael Gibbons
Missouri Sen. Michael Gibbons revealed his intention to run for Missouri Attorney General last April 2007 - the radio package was sold to a local radio station and should have made its way to MissouriNet.
I think it's important to note that the parents of Branson native Missouri Senator Jolie Justus's parents were kind enough to pose for a photo with Gibbons.
last year.
The clip above was shot Friday May 30th at the Branson Convention Center. A few of the talking points made their way into Gibbons speech Saturday May 31, 2008 on the convention floor.
Gibbons states in the clip above that his health is better now than before his surgery earlier this year.
Sidenote: 38th Circuit Associate Division I Judge Jim Justus never allows me to bring a camera in the courtroom when he's having a bad hair day. Senator Justus claims her father has "never has a bad hair day in his life" and claimed she believed her mother was a closeted Democrat. This year we grabbed a photo of his totally fabulous new hairdo.. Unfortunately, Missouri Senator Jack Goodman stumped for Gibbons in his absence so a before/after photo isn't available.

Big Smith Video - Live at Branson Landing
Branson Landing launched the Free Summer Concert series this weekend.
As a special treat, Dan Lennon helped arrange for the fire and water show display to continue on the hour while Big Smith jammed.
Just a few differences this year. Vonda Sheets was present, but without a six pack of cheap beer and with a new paper that launched today. Mayor Raeanne Presley was not present this year, nor irate as she was last year by the fact the Branson Landing allowed people to bring their own beer.
At the opening two years ago, Rick Huffman took the first sip of beer while handing out with Ms. Missouri. But the Branson Edge planted "Butinhouser" to mark the first recorded tall can beer ever consumed on Branson Landing property.
This is a historic weekend for Branson. Patriotism is celebrated - as always - but with a special treat this year as Women Veterans are being honored. Last time the event was held. I embedded myself with the first female US Military General.
The stories that come out of this event are inspiring.
For the Branson Landing, we experimented with Video with a multi-function digital device that can simultaneously shoot film while taking snapshots.
Check it out by pushing play above. The second photo shot is posted below.
Branson Missouri - Silver Dollar City Roller Coaster Footage
I usually only post video's I've shot but these were interesting. Silver Dollar City usually takes your camera away but these camera's were smuggled on board. A screamer sits behind them.
Branson Approves Huffman's High Rise
(Click Play to View Video Clip)
An intensity filled the air as the fate of the project would clearly be determined by one vote. The Alderman were split voting 3 in favor and 3 against approval for the 300 ft. Structure before Mayor Lou Schaeffer cast the final vote approving the 26 story structure. The three Aldermen voting in favor of the high-rise were Stan Barker, Dick Gass and Beverly Martin. The three Alderman voting against the high-rise were Ron Huff, David Edie and Jack Purvis.
Before the Vote
The diversity of interests in Branson and opinions on the route, formation and type of development residents see as best for the city were represented at Branson City Hall before the second reading of Huffman's proposed high rise passed with City Approval. A surprise visit from Jack Herschend, Yakov's letter read from developer Mark Weiss and Salvation Army Captain Ron Keys pleas to the City of Branson Aldermen are contained in the above clip.
